VH1 Save The Music
Is a non-profit initiative with two primary missions: To restore music education programs in America’s public schools, AND to raise awareness of the positive impact music participation has on students.
VH1 Save The Music purchases new musical instruments to restore music education programs that had been cut due to budget reductions in the past or to save programs at risk of elimination due lack of instruments. The foundation also conducts awareness campaigns, musical instrument drives and fundraising events.
National Association of Negro Music
Is the oldest organization dedicated to the preservation, encouragement and advocacy of all genres of the music of African-Americans in the world. It has, likewise, sought to develop higher professional standards of all music through lectures, conferences and conventions. Since its inception, it has provided encouragement and support for thousands of African American musicians, many who have become widely respected figures in music and have contributed significantly to American music culture and history. . .
Artists Against Racism
Teaches youths that regardless of one's religion, ethnicity, nationality or skin colour, we are all ONE PEOPLE, to prevent youths from adopting prejudiced attitudes. OUR ARTISTS REACH OUT AS ROLE MODELS to youth via: T.V. and Radio Public Service Announcements (PSAs), logos on CD Jackets, benefit CDs and concerts, Subway and Outdoor Billboards, School Posters and videos, music magazine and newspaper ads, and more...the prevention of prejudice through education. OUR MISSION: TO BUILD an UNDERSTANDING of all peoples. To speak to the youth, the future of our global community, about the basic human right of equality, so that a civilized society will, in the next millennium, finally result...
Music For Hope
Provides economically disadvantaged youths with musical instruments and opportunities for involvement in musical programs. Our volunteers also provide entertainment at Veterans hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, and other facilities. We help other charities with their entertainment needs for fund raisers and special events. In addition we provide music instruction, career counseling, practice guidance and other ancillary training.
National Music Foundation
Is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to American music and the people who create it. Our mission has two components: 1) to preserve and celebrate American music through educational programs and performances;
2) to provide retirement-related assistance to musicians and professionals from related fields.
MusiCares Foundation
Established in 1989 by the Recording Academy, ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, personal or medical crisis. Its primary purpose is to focus the resources and attention of the music industry on human service issues which directly impact the health and welfare of the music community.
Jazz Cares
Lois Gilbert who conceived the JAZZ CARES initiative states, "The intent of JAZZ CARES is to ellicit and generate online sales for the independent jazz musician and record company as well as contribute to worthwhile causes in the name of the Jazz Community. We hope by extending this first phase of JAZZ CARES, we can add a little "jingle" to musicians "pockets" during the holidays as well as contribute to the September 11 Relief Fund and help the families directly affected by the this tragedy. I believe this is a win-win situation; those ordering merchandise receive it directly from the artists, the items are personally autographed; the musicians benefit financially, and it brings the artists and their fans in personal contact."
Association for Recorded Sound Collections
Through publications, grants and awards, conferences, and the work of its committees, the Association provides a forum for the development and dissemination of discographic information in all fields and periods of recording and in all sound media. In addition, ARSC works to encourage the preservation of historical recordings, to promote the exchange and dissemination of research and information about them, and to foster an increased awareness of the importance of recorded sound as part of any cultural heritage.
Music Performance Trust Fund
MUSIC! LIVE! AND FREE! That's what the Music Performance Trust Funds is all about. From small town to major metropolis, hundreds of thousands of live musical events take place every year in the United States and Canada in connection with patriotic, educational and public activities. MPTF supports programs which are often the only source of live music in the communities in which they take place. MPTF is the largest single sponsor of live music in the world.
American Music Center
Founded in 1939, by Aaron Copland and composers, performers, publishers and educators, The American Music Center is the only national service organization in the United States devoted exclusively to the greater field of contemporary American music. AMC, with its membership of over 2500, is an information and support center for contemporary classical music and jazz, and provides a wide range of programs and services including information services, grantsmaking, publications, workshops, networking groups, a libary of scores and recordings, and much more.
