MISSION STATEMENT:
MUZIK MEKA Recordings is a “non-traditional” label for we are NOT in the business of signing "exclusive" agreements with artists/bands. We do however specialize in, but are not limited to, compilations featuring established and un-established artists within the "alternative" sounds of Soul, Jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B, and Spoken Word genres. The focus of Muzik Meka is to release and sell compilations that gather the best in music. This Virginia based label further seeks to 1) offer independent artists an additional avenue to be heard and recognized and 2) offer music fans a cost effective vehicle for collecting great music. We place a great deal of emphasis on quality, production, and satisfaction. But of equal importance and what sets us apart from other labels, we, along with our featured artists, are passionate about philanthropy. That is why, we have created a business standard of dedicating each CD project to a selected foundation. These foundations shall then receive a portion of each “dedicated” CD sold.

What is Acid Jazz?
So what is Acid Jazz? It is a funky music style which incorporates elements of jazz, 70s funk, hip-hop, soul, as well as other things. It can be all live, it can be sampled, it can be a mixture of both. Generally, the focus of Acid Jazz is the music, as opposed to the lyrics/ words (versus rap mixed with jazz samples, which focuses on the words, and maybe a little on heavy beats). It is a groovy music that sometimes wants to make you move, sometimes wants to tell you what's going down, and sometimes just sits in the background as you bob your head, not quite knowing why you are feeling so funky. samples

What is Neo Soul?
Saxophones serenade vintage sounds that fuse words and music to form a genre of music that not only pleases a listening ear, but relaxes the mind. Said to be a new movement in music, Neo-soul is a lot older than most realize. Songs of love, life, and peace have set a new, but not quite old, trend in fashion, poetry, and sound. "Purity for the soul" is the best way to describe this era of music that's setting the charts on fire and keeping watchful eyes on the lookout for what's next. samples
